Welcome to the website where you’ll learn more about Claude Monet, the man who is considered to be one of the most famous painters in art history and one of the leading figures in impressionism. Through this website I hope you learn to love Monet and get to know more about the man behind the canvas.

Claude Monet was born on the 5th of Novemeber 1840 in Paris, France, and passed away on the 14th of December 1926 in Giverny, France. He was father to two sons, Jean (1867) and Michel (1878). He married Camille Doncieux, but only after the birth of their first child.

Monet did not live in the lap of luxury but in fact struggled financially, suffered from depression,  and after the death of his wife, had an affair with a married woman and he also had to deal with the death of his first son.
